How to Visibli Increase Your Website Traffic in 5 Minutes Flat

Last Updated on March 12, 2018 72 Comments

POST UPDATE: Visibli is now SharedBy.co.

For all intents and purposes, besides the name, everything else remained the same.

My to-do list for today:

1. Find an ultimate traffic guide to something.

2. Skim through it.

3. Feel guilty that I haven’t given it the due attention and slowly skim through it again.

4. Leave a long-winded comment telling the blogger how incredibly helpful the guide was.

5. Click the “Save it for Later” button.

6. Feel guilty that I don’t have all the time in the world to give those ideas a shot.

7. Go back to my blog and lament that I haven’t done much today to directly impact my business.

My to-do list for tomorrow:

1. Save my to-do list from yesterday; rinse and repeat.

OR…

Increase Your Website Traffic with Visibli

Take the next 5 minutes*** to put into practice a simple traffic generation technique that will have a very quick and positive effect on your traffic generation TODAY.

***The results were tested by a professional blogger under pressure to produce epic content and are in no way a guarantee of the results.

How does that sound?

Let’s get to work!

By the way, this video is pioneering my new “Skinny Notes” series.

More about Visibli

It seems like some folks, like my friend James Hussey :), are not ready for the life in the fast lane of Skinny Notes and need some hand-holding.

<HAND HOLDING>

What Is Visibli Toolbar?

Your Visibli Engagement Bar provides a way to retain readers after sharing external links; both through social media and on your blog.

And no, it’s not at all like Hello bar.

Let’s say you want to quote another blogger in your post. Naturally you link to the source, i.e. the other blog.

If any of your readers clicks on that external link, you might be losing them.

If you use Visibli, then your reader who clicked on the external link from your blog will see a personalized toolbar with YOUR information on it.

They basically take your site with them. Sort of like StumbleUpon toolbar.

How to Set up Visibli

1. Watch the video.

2. Link to the free version: http://sharedby.co/register/.

3. Make sure the bar looks like an extension of your blog. Personalize it with your blog colors, picture, etc - make it recognizable.

4. Go through the Visibli bookmarklet (watch the video) whenever you want to share anyone’s post on social media.

It’s that simple.

And it’s my #4 referral traffic source.

Nearly hands-free and that good.

</HAND HOLDING>

Hi, firdt I would like to say that I love your information. The reason that I am posting this comment is that when I click on the register link. I get “this page cannot be found”, I would really like to sign up for this but can’t find the registration page.

I’m confused. How does this get you traffic? It just gives you a chance to re-engage traffic that you’ve already sent away. How is this better than having out going links open in a new window?

When it’s embedded on your site, then yes, it simply acts as a tool to bring your traffic back.

However, you can use Visibli bar to code the links to other blogs; for instance, when you share a friend’s post on Twitter, the link your Twitter followers click on to go to your friend’s site will be coded to show your Visibli bar at the top. So from there, the followers can come to your site by clicking on the bar.

I enjoyed this post as well as the creative way in which your ‘Skinny Notes’ video was put together.

I think I will begin using this strategy myself.

And if it works out I might just have to do a blog post review on it…

Thank you for the tip and the inspiration.

I don’t think these type of bars do really help in increasing the traffic. If a person is interested in a article means he/she is definitely gonna come and read it again even if they are redirected to some other article by clicking on links in the post which they are currently reading.

I wanted to check back in see how you’re feeling about the Visibli bar? You’ve been running it for awhile now and probably have a pretty firm idea of its overall effectiveness.

I’m curious - have you run any tests as to how it impacts the speed of your site…?

I did get a slight bump in Visibli traffic since I started using their script for outgoing links, Michael. Overall quality of traffic is phenomenal: low bounce rate, high visit duration, etc.

As far as speed is concerned, don’t see it affecting overall speed much.

    Hi Ana,

Good to see you in Google when I was searching with few questions about Visibli!

I have installed the plugin on couple of site and all the guest bloggers are complaining that the links are not do follow. So does visibli.com turn all the do follow links to no follow? Some folks who are looking only for back links find this as an issue.

Another question is, links within the post are opened in the same window unless with a right click. Is their a way to make the links opened in a new window/tab? I see that the toolbar has a back button tho.

I sent Visibli team a message asking them to add target=”_blank” tag to their links, Sunish.

As far as nofollow tag is concerned, I don’t see what you see. It looks like all my in-post outgoing links are still dofollow.

There’s no “dofollow” issue, Ruth - the links are exactly what you meant for them to be in the post.

I did however check with Visibli team regarding opening the links in a new window; they confirmed they are still working on it.

I like the idea, but loathe the fact that it uses third party servers to load from. I’ve had similar issues with the likes of Google Analytics and in the past (during my ignorant phase) used third party plugins for a number of different functions, all of which were being pulled from servers way beyond my control. I think my key issue here is that both Google and Yahoo now incorporate page load times in their ranking factors and visitors now expect decent sites to load quickly. Relying on a third party server to provide an integral part of your site may not be such a great idea in the long term…

Very good point, Steven, and from everything I can see, Visibli hasn’t caused any problems with loading times on my site at the moment. Also, I think the potential benefit far outweighs all the mili-seconds it might shave off my site speed.

Ana it’s funny before writing this page I clicked to troublesometots.com from one of your posts and I noticed the toolbar while on that Blog and I thought it was cool. Even thought it was a premium plugin. It’s good to know its free.

    I’ll test it out.

P.S. I thought the video was too fast. I hardly got any of the steps out of it. But I’m sure I’ll figure it out when I’m ready to use it.

    Hey Ana,

I’ve been using the Visibli bar since first seeing you mention it a while back. I don’t use it for links from my site, instead it appears when I share links on Twitter.

It’s my third biggest referrer. Thanks for the tip 🙂

James is right, you should use your voice for the video instead of the music. I think it would make it easier to follow the steps you’re showing.

But it’s a good idea to do short, snappy guides rather than the rambling walkthroughs you often see. It’s a great way of being different.

Pluralis is a crowdsourced marketplace for conversion rate optimization that is on a pay for performance model.

I first noticed visibli here at TGC even before I found this post here. What I love about Visibli is letting you take advantage of promoting your site while promoting other people’s interesting post from your twitter and aside from that Visibli also gives you an overview of click analytics from your shared blog post which makes me love them more.

I noticed the Visibli a while back on your blog, and went to check it out immediately for use on my blogs. I did NOT, however, notice the bookmarklet tool while I was there. Thanks for pointing that out. 🙂

The positives of the bar are obvious, but I have noticed two things regarding the Visibli bar during my testing, however, that need to be pointed out:

First, it tends to conflict with a LOT of other plugins, especially caching and minifying plugins, so please test your site carefully after installing.

Secondly, Visibli’s servers tend to slow down a LOT, and when your bar doesn’t load fast, it slows down everything else, too.

That being said, I still love it. The benefits of not losing readers are well worth the extra bit of testing. Yet one more thing I’ve learned from your blog that I’ve been able to put to good use. Thank you once again.

If you added the script/plugin correctly, all outgoing links within your posts should have the Visibli toolbar embedded, Niveen, and you should be able to see it at the top when clicking on those links. If you don’t see it, then something is not installed correctly.
